IGEQ Passport
Ensuring recognition for qualified equestrian instructors!
The Equestrian Passport offers easy to carry confirmation of instructor qualifications (useful both at home and overseas) and is available only to those holding eligible qualifications Click here for list in riding, driving and vaulting through their own national equestrian federation. Therapeutic instructors must hold a Level 1 riding qualification on the list to be eligible for a passport.
It enables instructors to have their qualifications confirmed and recognised in IGEQ member countries (subject to national legal requirements), thus easing the difficulties of teaching in other parts of the world. The passport also reassures prospective employers that the holder is properly qualified and to what level.
Level 3 Passport holders, meeting set criteria, may apply to be nominated by their Federation for acceptance onto the FEI Accredited Trainers’ List. Those accredited and accepted onto this list will then be eligible to be invited to take FEI courses in developing countries and become mentors to those FNs.
A member federation wishing to issue passports should:
- Order passports from the Secretary.
- Ensure the instructor holds an eligible qualification at the appropriate level Click here for list
- Federations should not issue passports to instructors from other countries unless they are permanent residents.
- If an instructor holds an eligible qualification from another country, confirmation they have been awarded the qualification, prior to the issue of a passport, must be made by checking with the relevant issuing federation [giving as much information as possible, eg: name & address of candidate at the time of the exam, name of qualification, date and venue of exam and copy certificate]. The federation concerned will then confirm if the instructor holds the qualification claimed and the correct level. IMPORTANT – this procedure should always be followed when issuing a passport to an instructor holding a qualification from another country.
- Passports are not valid unless stamped annually by the issuing Federation
- Federations issuing passports must send a Return to the Secretary quarterly of all passports issued on the appropriate form.
- Additional qualifications/experience, e.g. First Aid, Examiner, Judge, should be listed on the Endorsements pages at the back of the passport.
- A free IGEQ lapel badge is issued with each passport.
